Speller Metcalfe have recently started work on 4 eco vicarages in different locations for the Diocese of Worcester. The Eco Vicarages are to be built to meet Code Level 6 for Sustainable Homes and will also comply with Passivhaus design standards.
Once constructed, the houses will be inherently ‘Zero Carbon’ by the nature of materials used, high levels of insulation, together with the design of renewable energy provisions. These projects are seen as being an important part of the church’s message to the world as a whole, this regarding changing in the way we construct buildings now and in the future for the greater of all and our planet.
These projects are another milestone for Speller Metcalfe as we have recently completed one of the first ‘Zero Carbon’ homes in Europe. We are leading the way in sustainable construction and are already attaining standards that the UK Government plan for all new developments to achieve by 2016!
The works themselves will include a masonry build with eco blocks and 250mm of insulation, triple glazed windows an recycled newspaper for loft insulation etc. Sustainable technologies will include a ground source heat recovery system, Solar panels and Photovoltaic systems.
Key Aspects of the Contract:
- Code 6 Sustainable Homes
- Zero Carbon Footprint
- Varied Locations
- Solar Panels and Photovoltaic Systems
- Ground Source Heat Recovery Systems
