As part of their commitment to Gloucestershire County Council, QUVL undertook to provide new primary school facilities to serve their large housing developments on the former RAF site at Quedgeley, Gloucester.
Our employer comprised a consortium of developers and house builders who were tasked by the Council to deliver the new facilities in compliance with their high level of regulatory standards which included achieving a BREEAM rating of ‘very good’.
The project was awarded to Speller Metcalfe on a two stage design and construct basis, our remit to receive the novation of Quattro Architects and others within the consulting team, develop the architectural solution, cost and build the project.
Speller Metcalfe worked in close association with the design team throughout the pre-construction period, altering the structural form of the building to accelerate the construction period and value engineer a build solution that met he Council’s criteria, whilst at the same time remaining within stringent budget guidelines set by the developer.
